Welcoming Conrad & Emily to The House Fund Team

L to R: Emily Hanks (Head of Community and Marketing) and Conrad Voorsanger (Partner, focused on Operations)

We are thrilled to welcome Conrad Voorsanger and Emily Hanks to The House Fund family as our new Partner focused on Operations, and Head of Community and Marketing, respectively. Despite these chaotic and challenging times, The House Fund is more focused than ever on investing in exceptional talent from the Berkeley community and ensuring our portfolio is equipped for success. These two new leaders come to the The House Fund at a time when we must increase our ability to support our portfolio and make new investments.

At The House Fund we are — and have been since our inception — a small, tight knit team intensely focused on finding and supporting the most promising Berkeley entrepreneurs at the earliest stages. With the recent launch of The House Fund II, we doubled down on that mission with more capital and a heightened focus on artificial intelligence. Now, with a growing team, we are leaning even further into supporting the next generation of Berkeley’s great founders.

Conrad joins The House Fund as a Partner focused on Operations, and was most recently at McKinsey & Company where he advised Fortune-500 executives on digital innovation and transformation. At The House Fund, Conrad will strengthen The House Fund’s day-to-day operations, identify market insights on AI/ML to guide investments, and build enduring relationships with major corporate partners.

Conrad brings broad business-building experience from executive roles with McKinsey & Company, SuccessFactors, SAP, and Benefitter. Before McKinsey, Conrad was an early executive at SuccessFactors, where he drove the SaaS HR company’s strategy and new product portfolio, resulting in a blockbuster IPO, and the company’s subsequent sale to SAP for $3.4 billion. Conrad is also an entrepreneur, he co-founded Benefitter (sold to HealthMarkets), and has been successfully angel investing with multiple exits. Conrad earned his MBA from UC Berkeley’s Haas School of Business, and prior to that earned his undergraduate degree in Product Design Engineering from Stanford.

Emily Hanks, another UC Berkeley alum, joins us from seven years at ShopStyle where she was most recently a Senior Marketing Manager. In her role as Head of Community and Marketing, Emily is responsible for strengthening and expanding the amazing community of Berkeley technologists, founders, operators, and executives that work with The House Fund, as well as connecting them to each other to drive business outcomes. We look forward to seeing our community benefit from Emily’s years of experience building and managing communities in her previous roles.

We’re excited to continue the fun and challenging work of building The House Fund together with Conrad and Emily, and we can’t wait for you to meet them soon.

As we all work together to bring the COVID-19 pandemic under control, we are proud to see many of our portfolio companies stepping up to contribute, including Eko providing advanced telemedicine and diagnostic capabilities free of charge, and Flexport leveraging their platform to bring much needed medical supplies to frontline medical professionals with $6M in total donations and counting. You can read more about this latter effort and contribute, as The House Fund has done, here.
